Specimen plant. Screen plant. Can be grown in a mass under trees.

Not salt tolerant of inundation by salty or brackish water.



Low/no tolerance of salty wind or direct salt spray

Attracts pollinators, including hummingbirds.

Mesic flatwoods, scrubby flatwoods, seep slope. Ecotone between flatwoods and edges of titi swamps.

• Attracts insects.  Apparently important to bumble bees.
