This is a sedge and not a grass, but it does have a grass-like growth form. Useful in ponds to provide cover for wildlife and water quality treatment. Good in stormwater ponds.

Salt marsh restoration.  Not a good choice for most landscape uses.

Groundcover for moist, shady areas. This is an attractive fern that can form large patches in the right habitat area.

Known for very dense wood, hence the common name.  Said to have the heaviest wood on any American tree. Specimen plant or small shade tree.
