This is a sedge and not a grass, but it does have a grass-like growth form. Useful in ponds to provide cover for wildlife and water quality treatment. Good in stormwater ponds.

This is an endangered species. Please acquire only from reputable nurseries. Endemic to the central ridges, esp. the Lake Wales Ridge. Specimen plant in a dry setting or grow as part of a scrub garden. This plant has very interesting zigzag branches which provide considerable winter interest.

Known for very dense wood, hence the common name.  Said to have the heaviest wood on any American tree. Specimen plant or small shade tree.
